No, no, no, not £3, don't be silly Mummy... 3lbs!!!!! I'm 3.02lbs to be exact. I put on 10
g's last night and 40
g's tonight. I just had to make it because I was teetering on the edge for ages. I've even pooped three times today!
I'm on 12ml's of milk still, but this will go up as my weight goes up. The nurses think that I'll be on hourly feeds pretty soon, but it might have something to do with the oxygen flow reducing, so we'll see won't we - maybe next week...

There was talk about a lumbar puncture today, but they didn't do one. It's likely to be done tonight or in the morning. It's difficult to find out exactly what they're looking for; an answer to what this
bugger is (oops, I mean bug is) in my body and perhaps a check at a couple of other things. Mummy's worried about a needle going in my back, but I've had one before... it's OK Mummy, I'll be OK, I'll be brave and all you'll see is a little round
elastoplast on my back which will look huge in comparison to me! You've told me that I'll have to go through lots of uncomfortable things that the doctors and nurses will do, so I'm prepared Mummy. She's also worried about what they're looking for and what they'll find... that I don't know though I'm afraid.
In fact I am a bit afraid, it's scary for me as well as it is for Daddy and Mummy, I'm getting to know them a bit better and that means that I'm getting to love them more, which means that I don't want to leave them and I hate it when they leave me. But we'll all stroll on...
Oscar darling, you have always been so brave since the day you were born and have always been such a fighter. It seems so awful to ask more of you but you must fight and be brave a little more, the lumbar puncture will be over before you know it and you will then be with mummy and daddy and nice and cosy again. I will be thinking of you and will phone mummy and daddy tomorrow to ask how you got on. I love you always
ReplyDeletehello back on the internet so i can keep up with how your doing. Good to see you progressing so much every day. Come and see you again soon.

Hello Oscar!!! Just a little note to say that I think you're doing fab and that you've got to continue in the same vein (i expect you're sick of hearing that word...) so that you can go home to your mummy and daddy.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Aunty Justine - one of those awful nurses who wakes you up when you're fast asleep! xxx
