Weight: 880g's -1lb 15 0z's - soooooo close to 2lbs - I can't wait to be 2lbs, how exciting... If I carry on gaining weight at this amount 20 - 30 g's per day they everyone'll be really proud of me, wouldn't that be great!
Food intake: 1.5mls per hour
Hmmm, well I haven't been on my best behaviour today. But Mummay and Daddy aren't angry with me they're just concerned. I've had a very unsettled day today, or at least I did until about 5.30 ish this afternoon. The nurses had faffed around with me, they're always breathing down my neck, their eagle eyes on me all of the time... I can even tell all of this with my eyes shut - you get that 'feeling' that someones around... Mummy put her hands on me for a while - I drifted into a lovely sleep. Before this though they'd upped my morphine to 40ml's per hour (which is quite a lot), given me a sedative (can't remember the name) and had given me some paracetamol at about 2pm ish... this seemed to do the trick... I've been OK ever since (best not speak too soon though).
One of the doctors told Mummy and Daddy that when they did some cultures on my blood the other day, they all came back negative for infections. HOWEVER... they did a culture on the line into my belly button through my umbilical chord... this has the possibility of infection which would affect the fluid around my brain - this isn't good news, but the infection was on the line, and hasn't yet been confirmed as in my body... anyhow, they've started me on some antibiotics to pre-empt the infection and have now taken the line totally out. This has always been their concern though, they tried to take out the umbilical line the other day but they couldn't put a replacement line in anywhere... no space left!
